Yay Wednesday! We’re Exactly 100 Days Away From 2021 — Here’s What You Can Do By Then

Sep 23, 2020   •   Meryl Medel

There are only 100 days remaining in this awful year; 100 days before we can finally say hi to 2021. The big question is: will next year be better? Let’s keep our fingers crossed. In the meantime, here are 8 things you could do within 100 days while waiting for 2021.

Take care of a pet

Getting a pet might seem like a big step, but if you can afford it, why not do it? It would help you learn how to take care of needs other than your own. It’s good practice if you’re planning to start a family in the future. You could start small and get a goldfish. If you have more space, maybe you could adopt from an animal shelter. Or maybe you’d end up with a happy accident like this balut-turned-pet-duck.

Change your iOS home screen design

The new iOS 14 update got everyone scrambling to change their home screen layouts. This probably won’t take you a hundred days to accomplish — in fact, it’d take you less than a day. But we challenge you to exercise your creativity and come up with different themes every month. Make your artistic senses work, yes?

Learn a new skill

A new skill could be anything you want it to be. You could just pick up a new hobby (bracelet-making, crocheting, etc.), or start a small business (cooking, baking, etc.). Or you could just learn something new for the heck of it — grab an instrument if you have one. And if you don’t, download an app to learn a new language. We’re sure you’d get the basics by the end of the 100 days.

Rearrange your room

When is a better time to declutter and fix your room than when you’re stuck at home for days on end? Get rid of all the clothes you haven’t been using and all the abubot you’ve been hoarding. Rearrange the furniture in your room, and you’d find yourself feeling a bit refreshed. Even if you’re all cooped up for days.

Write about your everyday

Grab a journal or even just a plain notebook, and try to fill up a page daily. You could write paragraphs or draw whatever’s on your mind. Or if you’re more technologically inclined, you could record daily vlogs. If you want some more fun, you could get a jar and a pad of paper and fill it up with messages to yourself everyday. You could look back and open these by the end of the 100 days (or maybe even a year from now) and see how much you’ve grown since then.

Don’t share fake news

Honestly, you should already be doing this every day. But let’s make it a 100-day challenge. Starting now until the end of the year, set aside a jar, and drop five pesos into it for every piece of fake news you see on your timeline. Drop 10 pesos for every fake news post you report. Drop 20 pesos for every piece of fake news you fact-check, even just for yourself. Drop 50 pesos for every piece of fake news you share. Let’s see how much you’ll save by the end of the year.

Find a jowa — while practicing social distancing

A hundred days is quite a long time, even if you feel like it’s just going by so fast (as the past few months already did). So maybe you could find an S.O. (if you’re looking for one). And if you’re not, you could help your friends look for theirs. Who knows, maybe you’re just one set up away from introducing a pair of soulmates to each other. Just make sure to keep on practicing social distancing, okay?

The hashtag says it all. Even Twitter agrees! Even if our community quarantine regulations have been more relaxed than it was in the beginning, we’re very much still in the middle of a pandemic. So yes, wear that mask and stay at home (if you can) until the end of 2020 (and the end of this pandemic).

What else can you do in the next 100 days? Tell us below!
