Plagiarism issue: Sotto was accused of plagiarizing segments of a 1966 Kennedy speech when he delivered his opposing stance against the RH bill. The lifted portions were translated to Filipino, which he then used in his defense saying, “It was an inspirational message coming from a pastor that was used by Americans and if we use it and translate it to Tagalog, there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s not plagiarism,”
