Unless you were living under a rock for the past few weeks (or decade), you’d know that the last season of HBO series Game of Thrones just aired its final episode, and oh, how the fans reacted.

The final episode resulted in mixed reactions from avid fans of the series and low ratings from critics. Some resorted to memes and jokes to take the sting out of not having their preferred ending realized, or to cover the sad fact that there will be no more GOT episodes to look forward to. Expectations were definitely sky high, so when the credits rolled and a lot of things were left unresolved, everyone lost it. Here’s what the internet thought about GOT’s much-anticipated ending.

Have to confess I’m a little surprised Drogon can understand a complicated sociological metaphor but not a simple who-dun-it.

Either Drogon is the SMARTEST dragon in the world as he knew the corrupting power of the Iron Throne led to Dany’s downfall or he’s the stupidest and saw a knife in Dany and assumed it was the evil chair made of knives that killed her & he wanted revenge lmao#gameofthrones pic.twitter.com/PryyvUgDvR

All we can say is that is one smart-ass dragon.

We might need a reality show starring them in hell.

Bran is now the ruler of the Six Kingdoms with the irony (see what we did there?) of being given the Iron Throne (we know, it’s been melted) in exchange for his wheelchair. A lot of people thought it counterintuitive that he ended up as king, especially since he’s been known to do nothing but deliver those blank stares and sit battles out throughout the series.

SANSA STARK WENT FROM WANTING TO MARRY A PRINCE TO BECOMING QUEEN IN THE NORTH ON HER OWN.

If there’s anyone fit to sit on the Iron Throne, we all know it’s Sansa Stark. But since she didn’t, we can happily settle with her being the crowned Queen in the North.

This is right on the heels of that rogue coffee cup a few episodes back! It’s turned into a game now, and it appears the show’s been careless throughout the years!

For some, probably the only redeeming quality in this episode!
Say and criticise as much as you want but i loved #GameOfThonesFinale Whatever ending you put to these series it was always gonna recieve critics for being either too predictible or not cool enough. I enjoyed the fact that it was unpredictable and cool-ish. Peace out.

Whatever you think of the end of Game of Thrones, we can all agree the series as a whole has been a staggering accomplishment. A while ago, it would have been unthinkable to contemplate telling a single 10-year fantasy story on TV. pic.twitter.com/Ew8yiLhfpn

Let’s face it – we can’t have everything go our way. There was a petition circulating online for the show to have a rewrite with a proper ending that they want. Well, you can’t please everyone. The ending you want isn’t the ending that everyone wants. So settle down, Snowflake.

We can’t deny that the final episode seems a bit rushed. It feels as if there wasn’t much room for the characters to grow and actually have motivations behind their actions, but, like all things, it is what it is. Who knows, the show’s runners might just be setting us up for another series.
