Carving Your Own Path Isn’t Always Pretty, But These Gen Zs Are Slaying the Game

Jul 13, 2023   •   8List Editor

Figuring out what you’re meant to do in life is never an easy and straightforward journey. It’s a process that can take years (sometimes even decades!). But the good news is, you’re not alone in this quest.

There are countless amazing Gen Zs who have taken on the challenge of finding their place in the world. And the secret to their success? Staying true to themselves. They’ve learned to tune out the noise and follow their hearts, even when it’s scary or uncertain.

So if you’re in your self-discovery era, don’t be afraid to take risks, try new things, and explore the unknown. Go lang nang go – it’s worth it.

BINI

Before forming the P-pop group that gave us “Born to Win” and “Lagi”, BINI’s members faced so many challenges and obstacles from the audition process to their debut. Even when they began training, doubts still lingered due to the intense competition around them.

Despite this, the members kept pushing and refining their craft. When they finally made it as one of the Final 8 and formed BINI, they discovered that they were inspiring others and gaining supporters along the way.

“Dun namin nalaman na ito talaga ang gusto naming gawin,” they say. “Kahit sobrang hirap ng training. Yung stamina training, tapos yung pagdi-diet natin. Tapos yung na-separate tayo sa families natin. It was very hard pero go lang nang go!”

Cleo Loque

Even at her young age, Cleo Loque has already become a force to be reckoned with – she’s the CEO of Hiraya Pilipina at just 19 years old. She’s always loved pushing herself out of her comfort zone, never losing sight of her dreams.

This year, she made her childhood dream of traveling solo a reality. By trusting in herself, she proved that anything is possible when you believe in yourself. “Even though it’s scary to do things on your own, I felt so much freedom in fulfilling this dream,” she says.

Hazel Perez

For a long time, fear kept content creator Hazel Perez from living life to the fullest. Because of her extreme allergies, Hazel was scared to travel – even though she had a deep desire to see the world. So she settled for living vicariously through her friends’ travel photos. But one day, Hazel realized that she only had one life to live and decided to make it count.

Hazel started by taking driving lessons and got her license – something she never thought she would be able to do. Now, she’s exploring the world, experiencing all the things she once only saw through others’ photos, and is inspiring her followers to do the same. “Kaya ngayon, I leave nothing to chance. Dahil sa buhay dapat GO LANG NANG GO!”

Janina Vela

Watch on TikTok

Youtuber and content creator Janina Vela has learned that in order to grow, sometimes you have to let go of the things that have kept us going in the past. Just because something was good for us before doesn’t mean it’s still good for us now. We’re allowed to outgrow things and evolve into healthier versions of ourselves

“As long as it’s done in love, change can be good, and change can be healing,” she says. So take it from Janina and go ahead and embrace change, let go of what’s holding you back, and don’t look back – your best self is waiting for you!

Mitch Unnie

Like many of us, Mitch used to worry about doing things alone and being judged for it. But she realized that being confident and comfortable in her own skin was more important than worrying about what others might think. She took the leap out of her comfort zone and discovered that doing things alone was actually quite liberating.

“Now, I can watch concerts alone and I can travel alone without being scared,” she says. “And I’m more confident because I can say ‘go!’ to any adventure I face.”

Rafa Abaya

When he was younger, Rafa Abaya dreamed of being a scientist, creating new inventions, and helping people. But he also had a passion for storytelling and creating memories through film. He went on to become a doctor — and quickly realized that there was no room for creativity in his career.

But through content creation, Rafa found that he could stay true to himself by combining his love for science with his passion for artistic expression. “So if you’re still uneasy [about] taking that risk… the simple answer is, go lang nang go,” he says. “Honestly, the hardest step to take, the hardest jump to make, is always the first one. After that, the possibilities are endless.”

GO LANG NANG GO!

Wherever you are on your self-discovery journey, know that Globe Prepaid has totally got your back. Their mission isn’t just limited to connectivity – Globe Prepaid is all about empowering Gen Zs to establish strong support systems, explore new horizons, and embrace digital lifestyles. Globe Prepaid’s Go Lang Nang Go movement is all about helping Gen Zs to embrace the messy-beautiful ride of life, learn from each other’s experiences, take risks, and find meaning in the unexpected. So when in doubt, just keep doing you, fam.

How about you? What’s your Go Lang Nang Go story?
