Korean writers really have their ways of making us cry a liter of tears with their drama series. But if you’re not ready for that kind emotional outburst spread over an extended period of time, you can opt to watch Korean movies instead. That way the emotional outburst will  only last over a period of an hour and a half or so.

Listed here are a variety of Korean films that can help set your weekend mood:

No Breathing

.

No Breathing is an inspiring and heartwarming story about a talented swimmer who rediscovers his talent upon meeting his long-time rival. If you’re a millennial struggling with your dreams, you will draw inspiration from this film. Another reason to watch: it is topbilled by none other than Lee Jong Suk and Seo In Guk, two of the hottest Korean guys today. You’re welcome.

Finding Mr. Destiny

.

If you’re still hung up on your first love, you can wish to find him again or just hire an agency specializing in tracking down first loves to do it for you. And that’s pretty much what Ji Woo, the film’s main protagonist, did in this movie.  This fictional road film is as fun as it is hopeful, and it will make you miss fond memories of your first love.

200 Pounds Beauty

.

This manga-based film is a critical and box-office success in Korea, thanks to its light and goofy nature and Kim Ah Joong’s strong performance. Its take on plastic surgery is smart and fun, and it’s guaranteed to bring you a lot of positive vibes until the movie’s end.

Cyrano Dating Agency

.

What if there’s an agency to help you win the heart of the person you love? Based on Edmond Rostand’s 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, this film will entertain you with its fun antics and interesting premise. You will not only empathize with Choi Daniel’s character, the agency’s client, but you will be hooked with the story’s amazing twist.

Sex is Zero

.

This 18+ movie has a lot of hilarious and quirky moments that people call it Korea’s answer to American Pie. But don’t let its title fool you; Wait until you see the second half of the movie and realize why it’s dear to many people’s hearts.

The Werewolf Boy

.

The title may sound like a horror film, but it is actually a melodramatic love story that is truly compelling. It features a younger Song Joong Ki as a feral boy who had his first contact with a girl who protects him and eventually falls for him. Don’t forget to bring a box of tissues when you watch it because, seriously, it’s a really satisfying tearjerker.

My Sassy Girl

.

If you haven’t seen this movie, seriously hun, you’ve missed out on a true classic. This “painfully funny love story” has a lot of laugh out loud moments, and it’s realistic portrayal of young love will make you watch it several times.

The Beauty Inside

.

If you’re a fan of David Levithan, you would easily compare this film’s plot to the book, Everyday. But it’s actually charming in its own way, and the plot is interesting and romantic enough to warm your heart. Make sure you don’t keep your eyes off your screen because it’s also a cameo party featuring your favorite Korean oppas!
