First impressions, pairing, and comfortability
Straight out of the box, the realme Buds T100 looks sleek and neat, just the way we like our gadgets. We got the white version which is always a classic and timeless choice (we just love the white stems!). The case perfectly fits in the palm of your hand. On the front you’ve got the battery indicator with lights that either blink green or red, depending on the battery status, and the charging port at the bottom.
Pairing the realme Buds T100 is an easy and smooth process. All you have to do is open the charging lid and the buds will automatically enter pairing mode. Look it up on your smartphone’s Bluetooth and connect to realme Buds T100. And if you need to enter into manual pairing mode, touch the earbuds for 5 seconds at the same time.
The gesture controls are available and customizable via the realme Link app among other features. Moreover, the realme Buds T100 can easily become your new buddy for workouts, running, or commuting as it is equipped with an IPX5 Water Resistance that makes it sweatproof. This also protects the device from splashes coming from any direction.
The box comes with three pairs of silicone ear tips in different sizes. Although it gives a snug fit that makes for a good seal between the ear tips and the ear canal, the oval shape might be uncomfortable for some who wear it for hours on end. Another thing we love about the earbuds is their flat design on the outer part. If you’re someone who loves using earbuds well into the night, it’s surprisingly comfy lying on your side with the buds sandwiched between the pillow and your ear.
Controls and connection
One problem people have with Bluetooth earbuds is that it has a tendency to disconnect suddenly. You’re sitting there, blasting tunes and then the earbuds die for no reason. Putting the realme Buds T100 to the test for a week, this scenario did happen once but so far has never happened again. We attribute that to the latest Bluetooth 5.3 connection which lets the buds connect at a distance of up to 10 meters away from the paired device.
The realme Buds T100 also has Intelligent Touch Controls for little to no reliance on having to use a smartphone or connected device to control what you’re hearing. Double tap on a single side to play/pause, triple tap on a single side for the next song, and long press on either side for 3 seconds to increase or decrease the volume.
These buds boast of 28 hours total playback, a long battery life that held up when we put it to the test. It has a total of 480mAh battery capacity — 40mAh for each earbud and 400 mAh for the case. Plus, it supports fast charging. Even after only 10 minutes of plugging it in, you can use it for up to 2 hours.
We used the realme Buds T100 straight out of the box without charging to put it to the test. It only needed to be charged after about 5 days of listening to music and watching movies for 3-4 hours a day. We have to hand it to realme, it was a pleasant surprise to not be able to remember when you last had it charged. The Buds T100 will be a great companion for traveling, you know you’ll never run out of juice thanks to its formidable battery life.
Sound and Microphone
The buds boast of richer sound quality with deeper bass thanks to the 10mm Dynamic Bass Driver. The 88ms Super Low Latency also lets you enjoy a smoother experience with perfect audio-to-video sync. To paint a picture, 88ms means that the delay between audio from connected devices to the TWS is less than 0.1 seconds.
The sound is great for listening to music and watching movies but can you use the buds for phone calls? We’re glad to report that the mic on this pair does work to deliver your voice clearly. However, you’d have to manage your expectations — the caller will still hear the electric fan you’ve got blasting beside you or that rooster that decided to chime in on your calls.
Is the noise canceling any good?
These earbuds are equipped with AI Environmental Noise Cancellation for Calls to cancel out unwanted noise. When you answer a call, the AI ENC feature separates background voices in real-time via AI algorithms. But don’t confuse this with active noise canceling. When we listened to music on our regular commutes down the busy, noisy streets of Metro Manila, it didn’t completely block the noise but the snug fit of the eartips was enough for a great listening experience.
Verdict: realme Buds T100 is great Bluetooth earbuds for those on a budget
What makes it a W for us is the price tag that’s much more affordable than other earbuds. The realme Buds T100 retails for P1,299 (Pro tip: Wait for huge online sales to for an even better deal). For a pair that gives you good sound quality, long-lasting battery life, fast charging, and looks stylish, it’s a good enough investment for your hard-earned money.
