If you haven’t seen The Weeknd’s performance during the Super Bowl LV halftime show, what sort of rock are you living under? The man pulled out all the stops despite having no live audience due to COVID protocols (a pity, really). He’s got the bling blings, the strobe lights, fireworks, a grand stage, theatrics — the works. It was a grand performance that will go down in history. But aside from Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd’s real name, ICYDK) making the Grammys regret snubbing him, his performance is also historic for an entirely different reason. It birthed quite possibly the best meme of the month, if not the year.
Check out the most hilarious responses to his performance:

Note: This could also be applied to the gargantuan SM Mall of Asia
Before singing his hit song “Can’t Feel My Face”, The Weeknd walked through a light-filled maze, looking lost and confused. While he was still performing his heart out, the people of the internet took that short clip and made it into the funniest meme template. As of writing, the snippet uploaded on Twitter now has 61.6M views.

But seriously, The Weeknd delivered an electrifying performance during halftime. It was a shame he didn’t get to experience headlining in the normal world.
