Waifish and Invisible:
8 Short Guy Problems
by Baxter Jacinto

Moments from Volleyfriends UAAP Volleyball Kick Off SHAD

Being short has its pros and cons. Yes, it sucks being short—especially when you’re a guy, but sometimes it gives you a pass just because physically, you look younger than most. From tip-toeing in swimming pools to looking like a kid forever, here are the everyday problems of a short guy.

8. Reaching for the grocery shelf

Yep, it sucks when you can’t reach that box on the top shelf. So make sure to wear shoes that has high heels when you go to the grocery—or slap on some elevator pad if need be.

7. Adjusting the driver seat can take some time

It’ll take a while for you to get the right seat adjustment when driving, and most of the time, you’ll have to lift your head up because you can’t see what’s up ahead. The person sitting behind you will appreciate the leg room, though.

6. Finding clothes your size

It’s really tempting to go to the kids or teens section and buy your clothes there because you know for a fact that it’ll fit better than the regular men’s section. That’s quite alright. Although you’re pretty sure that those at the women’s section look nice too. Hm.

5. Looking forever young

Oh lord, it’s not enough that you were born short, oftentimes you’d also be blessed with no facial hair and no manly jawline. No one takes you seriously because you look too young. Club bouncers will always mistake you for being a minor; and the embarrassing part is that you have to bring out your driver’s license just to prove you’re not.
