Love them or hate them, Philippine television isn’t complete without our uber-dramatic teleseryes. Although some tend to be a cringe-fest, teleseryes have what it takes to conquer the global entertainment scene if done correctly. ABS-CBN’s newest offering, Dirty Linen, looks like it’s all set to make a mark globally, and we’re here for it. Without giving too many spoilers, here’s everything you need to know about the newest revenge drama in town.
Dirty Linen follows the lives of Rolando Sinag (Joel Torre), Lala Milliado (Jennica Garcia), Max Dionisio (Christian Bables), and Alexa Salvacion (Janine Gutierrez), who desire to seek revenge against the powerful and corrupt Fiero Family for the demise of their loved ones.
Directed by Onat Diaz and Andoy Ranay, the series was inspired by the idiomatic expression, “Do not wash your dirty linen in public,” which means people shouldn’t air or discuss their personal problems in public.
The directors say Dirty Linen has repulsive storytelling, which was evident from the first three episodes. Every scene drives the story forward without unnecessary long monologues to bore viewers. Although ABS-CBN has done numerous revenge-themed series like Magkaribal, Wildflower, and The Killer Bride, it looks like Dirty Linen would bring something new to the TV screens. *crossed fingers*
From the cinematography and sound scoring to the visuals, you can see why Dirty Linen is one of ABS-CBN’s biggest shows to air this year. Even veteran actress Tessie Tomas, who plays Doña Cielo Fiero in the show, applauded the lavish production behind the show and said Dirty Linen is Netflix-worthy. I mean, look at the luxurious mansion shown in the trailer, and be the judge.
This revenge drama series is just as good as its cast. Dirty Linen boasts brilliant actors like Golden Globe nominee Dolly De Leon (Olivia Salvacion), 78th Venice International Film Festival Best Actor awardee John Arcilla (Carlos Fiero), and Screen International Rising Star Asia Award winner Janine Gutierrez.
Of course, you also can’t forget the aforementioned veteran actress Tessie Thomas, Joel Torre, Angel Aquino (Feliz Pavia), Jennica Garcia, Zanjoe Marudo (Aidan Fiero), and Christian Bables. The fact ABS-CBN managed to gather a talented bunch like this in one show is a chef’s kiss.
As soon as the pilot episode aired, Dirty Linen became a hot topic on local Twitter. Netizens love the show’s promising start, but they noticed something that makes Dirty Linen a show with no holds barred, according to them. Many saw “parallels” with IRL personalities and events. Our new favorite gang. We’re all rooting for you!
And we’re only three episodes in, folks, so it looks like we’ll see more political undertones from this show.
You can watch Dirty Linen weeknights on ABS-CBN’s YouTube channels, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live. It’s also available on Jeepney TV, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC.
