Good news for pet parents: It looks like LRT-2 will allow pets on trains soon. The official Facebook page of the Light Rail Transit Authority 2 hinted about allowing fur babies on regular commutes. What should you know about this?
LRT-2 hints at allowing pets inside trains
Pets and other live animals, whether caged or not, are currently not allowed inside LRT trains. However, that might change if the LRT-2 Facebook post is to go by. On January 25, they posted a photo of a dog and a cat peeking and a text in the middle that says “Soon in LRT-2.”
The caption reads: “May mga bago tayong pasahero sa LRT-2! Abangan…”
Further details such as when pets will be allowed as well as the restrictions are yet to be released. However, if the policy change is true, this isn’t the first time that trains have allowed pets onboard. MRT-3 has been allowing cats and dogs on board since 2021, provided that they are in a 2×2″ cage and wearing diapers.
Netizens are ecstatic
As of writing, the post has reached 21k reactions and more than a thousand comments. Netizens are happy at the upcoming good news. Many are delighted that they’ll save money from having to book ride-sharing apps just to transport their pets.
“Yehey! As long as naka muzzle at naka diaper, go na! Laking tipid sa pamasahe kesa mag taxi or Grab kapag grooming,” commented one.
“Good news to for furparents thank you LRT-2,” commented another. “Sa mga pet owners be responsible diapers leash and always bring tissue wipes poo bag in case wag abusado pinag bigyan na nga, hindi obligasyon ng ibang tao paglinis ng kalat ng pets natin.”
And yet others want clear guidelines from LRT-2, foreseeing the trouble a new policy like this might cause with misinformed security personnel.
“Sana maglabas ng maayos na guidelines about this. Tapos ma-roll out and well informed ang mga staff and security guards. Sa MRT kasi sabi pwede ang pets given naka carrier, sa Boni Station walang idea ang mga guards, tumawag pa ng kasamahan same sila na no clue,” said one netizen.
