When you’re stuck at home with your family for weeks at a time, you’re bound to get on each other’s nerves eventually. And our moms aren’t exempt. In fact, for many of us, our days wouldn’t be complete without our mothers scolding or nagging us. But as irritating as this is, their classic nanay lines can also be hilarious, because 1) they’re often super dramatic; 2) you gotta love that attitude. Here are some classic nanay lines memes that every Filipino can relate to.

When it takes you a minute or two to get up

Passive aggressive much, ‘nay? (Next time, help your mom out as soon as she asks to avoid further scolding.)

She knows when you need something

Need baon? Spent all your salary and still need to make “utang” to mama? Rethink your life choices, because your mom’s not gonna make it easy for you.

Who needs alarms?

Plan on sleeping in? Forget about it. One guaranteed way to get a Filipino mom to go full-on beast mode is to wake up very late and miss lunch. It gets even worse if it’s a Sunday and you end up being late for church.

Don’t be a picky eater

Nanay has a point, especially during these unique times. Eat your food, maraming batang nagugutom.

When you try to turn on the air con

Sorry, ma.

When you and your siblings start fighting

Classic.

When we’re looking for something

(Loose translation: “Use your eyes, not your mouth!”) Moms somehow know where everything in the house is, so who else are we supposed to ask? Honest question.

She’s our mom and we should help out

We’ll end this article with a tip: Help out around the house and let your mom know that she’s valued! Mothers aren’t robots. And if you’re a mother reading this and you can relate to the nanay lines memes, remember to let yourself take things easy every now and then, put up your feet, and enjoy a good old meme.

What other things does our moms say when they’re angry? Tell us below!
