Summertime essentials: electric fan or aircon, comfortable clothing, and a refreshing drink in hand. The sweltering weather doesn’t seem to be going away soon and all we can do is try to deal with it. Since we still cannot leave our homes for that summertime palamig in the mall or your favorite coffee shop, your kitchen’s to the rescue. Try these easy-to-make refreshing drinks that aren’t only cool but will satisfy your sweet tooth’s cravings.

Sago’t Gulaman Samalamig

The classic Pinoy merienda companion! And it’s even better when you get to DIY your own cup, where you put more arnibal because you just need more sweetness. Best paired with the classic meriendas you can find in a street near you: fishball, kikiam, kwek-kwek, or calamares.

Melon Juice

If you’re looking for a quick beverage to pair with your lunch, melon juice is the way to go. All you have to do is shred the melon, add evaporated and condensed milk, and ice — as easy as 1-2-3.

Lemonade

You know what they say: when life gives you lemons, you make some lemonade. It isn’t even as difficult as you think it is! This video gives you a step-by-step tutorial on how you can make your preserved lemon in syrup in just a few steps. Wait until it sets, add some ice and sparkling water, and you’ve got a perfect glass of sweet and slightly sour lemonade.

Iced Tea

Why go for pre-mixed iced tea when you can try to make your own? It’s a fun process to do with your family and there are tons of flavors and combinations you can do. This tutorial gives you three recipes you can try. And if you’re missing the end-of-the-week-catch-up over mojitos with your friends, this tutorial shares a mojito iced tea recipe! But it’s non-alcoholic. Or maybe you might want to add some.

Fruit Shakes

When you think of a perfect summer getaway, here’s what it usually looks like: you’re on a tanning chair by the beach, sipping a fruit shake while reading a good book or just looking at the ocean. We can’t go to beaches yet but you can have the same feeling when you try these! Honestly, not a summer goes by without having fruit shakes.

Buko Pandan Sago’t Gulaman
