Ryan Gosling Just Gave Ken’s PHP218,000 Custom Guitar to BTS’ Jimin Because of an ‘Unspoken Ken Code’

Worlds and stars are colliding in this little social media interaction between one of today’s most talked-about movies and one of today’s most popular artists. Barbie The Movie and Korean supergroup BTS’ Jimin had a cute online interaction after this coincidental wardrobe choice.

In one of the scenes in Barbie The Movie, Barbie and Ken end up wearing Western-themed outfits. Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in the movie, sported a shirt with intricate Western-inspired embroidery and silver tassels, paired with black pants, a white cowboy hat, and a pink bandana.

Coincidentally, another famous personality who wore the same exact shirt is Jimin of BTS. Fans have noticed the similarity ever since the first ever behind-the-scenes photos came out last year.

Ken’s shoutout to Jimin

So of course, Ryan Gosling has to pay tribute to Jimin, who actually wore the outfit first in BTS’ “Permission to Dance” music video.

In a video message, Gosling admitted to the so-called “fashion faux pas”: “I notice that your “Permission to Dance” outfit is the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie. I have to give it to you — you wore it first. You definitely wore it best.”

The actor also referred to “an unspoken Ken code” where a Ken has to give their most prized possession to another Ken “if [they] bite another Ken’s style.” Which Ken did, so now he’s giving Jimin his most prized possession: Ken’s guitar.

“I hope you’ll accept Ken’s guitar as my humble offering. Besides, Ken doesn’t really play anyway, so it’ll be much better in your hands,” Gosling said.

The guitar is a limited edition Gibson Jerry Cantrell “Fire Devil” Songwriter acoustic. It’s priced at a staggering USD 3,999, or approximately PHP 218,000, and Ken customized it with his name and his favorite horses, so the monetary value of that particular custom guitar is likely higher than that selling price.

Gosling stars in Jimin’s favorite movie

Fans were so excited when the video message dropped, especially because Jimin has said that one of his favorite movies is The Notebook, which stars Gosling. In fact, the idol has watched the movie at least 7 times already!

Latest update: Jimin already got the gift!

Last night, on his personal Instagram account, Jimin responded with his own video message, thanking Gosling for his gift and already holding the guitar. “I could see that you look great in my outfit. Thank you for this guitar. I really love it, and I look forward to watching Barbie. Go Barbie!”

Now the only thing we need to see is Jimin playing that particular Ken guitar. And maybe a Jimin and Ryan Gosling real-life interaction. Pretty please?
