Saturday Night Live has been making us laugh since 1975 and has given us some of comedy’s greats: Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Andy Samberg, to name a few. With 45 seasons under its belt, SNL continues to prove its comedic influence on aspiring comics through their memorable skits.
With hundreds of skits that have been produced over the years, not all have stood out in terms of memorability and comedic timing. Listed below are just some of the many SNL skits that are both hilarious and unforgettable.
Dear Sister
Back when The O.C. was a TV staple, it produced one of the most dramatic season finales in TV history. Of course, SNL had to make a parody, and tbh it’s a lot better than the original. A skit with Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, AND Bill Hader? Pure comedy gold.
A Thanksgiving Miracle
Admit it: you’re an Adele fan even if you keep denying it with yourself. This skit proves that Adele’s music can transcend different beliefs and political views. Bonus: a long-haired Matthew McConaughey.
Melissa McCarthy as WHPS Sean Spicer
Melissa McCarthy first made us laugh in Bridesmaids. She continued with other hilarious films such as Spy and the Ghostbusters remake. Though successful as a film actress, McCarthy’s performance on TV is better than on the big screen. One notable appearance on SNL was when she parodied former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
Hobbit Office
Ever wonder what happened after Bilbo Baggins saved Middle Earth? Well here’s your (amusing) answer.
Wedding Objections
Another skit from Martin Freeman’s stint as host, this skit shows a couple whose “undying love” remains intact even with many impediments (including the groom’s uhm, wife).
Disney Housewives
What happens when your favorite Disney princesses gathered up for a drama-filled dinner? #DisneyAfterDark
The Day Beyoncé Turned Black
SNL is known for its comedic approach towards several sensitive issues. For this skit, white people are shown to be surprised after Queen Bey released her Formation video before the Super Bowl. Hilarity ensues after they found out that Bey is actually black.
Jack Sparrow
One of the funniest SNL Digital Shorts ever produced, the skit shows The Lonely Island’s collaboration with “cinephile” Michael Bolton and his big, sexy hook.
