ICYDK, Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 finally premiered last May 27 on Netflix. While we are reunited with the gang after three years (Season 3 premiered last July 4, 2019!), the story picks up six months from the Battle of Starcourt. In Season 4, the gang is separated for the first time. Some stay in Hawkins, some move to California, and others travel to Russia. But they’re all fighting the same evil that threatens not only their beloved town but the whole world.
Season 4 is jam-packed with action, horror, and drama. Each of the seven episodes in Volume 1 averages 1 hour and 20 minutes. Volume 2, which is expected to be released on July 1, has two episodes with a combined run time of 4 hours.
While the show is gloomy (these kids can’t catch a break!) filming for Season 4 is anything but. Here are a few of the cutest behind-the-scenes photos from the cast themselves that prove how much fun they had shooting Stranger Things Season 4.
The California gang

The scene at the roller skating rink was stressful but we’re glad to know the cast are all smiles behind the scenes. Take a peek at Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Finn Wolfhard (Mike) just chilling on the floor. They probably enjoyed a few minutes skating off-cam too.
The Creel House gang

If Season 3 had the Scoop Troop team, Season 4 has doubled that group and turned it into the Creel House gang. The more the merrier! This season found Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), and Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) teaming up to uncover the horror of what’s possessing kids back in Hawkins. But while on-screen we see a lot of disturbing stuff, when the cameras aren’t rolling, this gang is a family who loves to hang out with each other.

Special mention: Steve’s hairy chest

We just needed to get this off our chests. Thanks, Maya Hawke.
Love for Chrissy Cunningham
In case you didn’t get enough Chrissy content…because…y’know… #StrangerThings pic.twitter.com/uSgKD5bSKo

She IS a queen!
Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien) had such short screentime this season but it’s safe to say she stole the show during the first two episodes. We wanted to see more of her and Eddie (Joseph Quinn) but alas, things happened.
Just Noah and Millie things

Did you know that Noah and Millie are BFFs IRL? They’re the best duo the series has produced next to Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) dating of course. The last slide of Noah’s Instagram post above treats fans to a little BTS of the California gang filming inside Argyle’s (Eduardo Franco) van. Can you guess which scene it is?

Although we love Stranger Things, we’re happy that it’s fictional. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be seeing the smiles on the cast’s pretty and handsome faces!
Having fun on set

The boys goofing off during break

Charlie, Eduardo, and Finn love to goof around on set. See that badminton game? They did not only bring the muscle but they also brought their A-game in acting.
We’re glad the cast had as much fun filming as we did binge-watching Season 4 in one sitting. And now to wait for Volume 2 come July 1!
