Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto received praise for his transparency on his city’s Pamaskong Handog project. Pasiguenos and non-Pasiguenos alike are all praises for the mayor and his local government unit (LGU) when he posted a photo of the total amount spent on the project.

Pasig’s Pamaskong Handog 2021

Nagsimula na! PAMASKONG HANDOG 2021!

Pamaskong Handog is Pasig City’s annual project during Christmas where the LGU prepares and distributes packs of Noche Buena groceries for every constituent.

1. Walang bigas. sa bigas kasi madalas nagkakaproblema kapag ganito karami.Pero mas marami pa ring laman ngayon!

Sotto posted a purchase order report detailing what they purchased for the Noche Buena packs. He also explained why there wasn’t any rice included in this year’s pack: “Walang bigas. sa bigas kasi madalas nagkakaproblema kapag ganito karami.Pero mas marami pa ring laman ngayon!”

Sotto noted in particular that they chose another chocolate brand compared to previous years. This helped the LGU in saving as much as PHP 375,000 in their budget. “Sa pangatlong pic makikita ang Purchase Order. Pero may change order tayo, SWISSMISS CHOCO MILK na (imbis na Goya) kaya bumaba pa ng 375,000 ang total price natin,” he said in his Facebook post.

375,000 bags

Heto ang Pamaskong Handog na Legit! Salamat sa Administrasyong Vico Sotto.

The LGU was able to make 375,000 Noche Buena packs, which many Pasiguenos have already received.

Netizens are happy and hopeful

Whether they live in Pasig or not, many netizens express their admiration for the mayor’s transparency and good budgeting.

Grabe Vico Sotto. Pamaskong handog to 375,000 families amounting to almost 235 million pesos. This is Transparency.
VICO SOTTO is going to be our future President 6, 12 or 18 years from now.

Parol sa kalsada or pamaskong handog?

Meanwhile, in another part of the city…

Former mayor Bobby Eusebio took to Facebook to express his disappointment over the lack of Christmas parols and decors around the city, comparing Pasig to other LGUs’ more extravagant displays. “Pasig, ano na ang nangyari? Walang parol? Walang kumukutitap sa kalsada? Hindi maramdaman ang diwa ng Pasko,” he wrote on Facebook.

Sotto says our focus is on more important things

The current mayor only has this to say: “Mayroon naman, hindi lang siguro siya nakaka-ikot. Hindi lang ganoon karami. Nag-fofocus tayo sa mga bagay na sa tingin natin importante.” Which, for Pasiguenos, is what is right.

Pasig citizens commented on Eusebio’s post to express their disagreement over the former mayor’s sentiments. “Maganda ho ang alokasyon ng budget ng Pasig ngayon. Mas malaki ang natipid na pwede pa ilaan sa ibang bagay,” one comment read.

“It’s called being practical, instead of purchasing or paying for the installation of Christmas lights and other decorations, they use it for projects that will last for years and food to be distributed to each family living in Pasig,” another said.

Sotto’s 6 points to remember these elections

The mayor also received praise when he filed his certificate of candidacy for the upcoming elections and he shared six points for himself and his constituents to remember during the campaign period. See what he has to say here:
