It’s been a busy past few weeks for Filipinos, from cheering for our SEA Games athletes to supporting our Miss Universe Philippines candidate Gazini Ganados, the competitive spirit surely soared high. Miss Universe 2019 was held last December 9 and as usual, every Filipino was glued to their TV (or online updates).
Everyone was hoping for a back-to-back win for the Philippines, but alas, this wasn’t the case. Nevertheless, even though Filipinos were disappointed AF, adding humor to the entire thing definitely took the sting off even for a little bit.

At this point, everyone was still holding out hope because #wildcard!

And the wildcard prayers came thru!
And then the Top 10 was called

Sadly, this was Gazini’s last chance and there’s no wildcard to help here now. It was at this point that Filipinos knew there would be no back-to-back reign. Sad emoji.
There were actually two Filipinos in the competition!

Miss Iceland though?!
Gazini and her silver linings

Just like Catriona and her silver linings last year, Gazini also had her own
backup dancers. Just look at the color of the Philippine candidate’s gowns, we sure do love to stand out!

Catriona had her last walk as the reigning Miss Universe and she still managed to stun everyone. She has raised the bar for what being a Miss Universe means and we are forever of her.
But some Filipinos were being salty

Guys, let’s just be proud that someone is clearly worshipping Catriona Gray — from the walk to the dress. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!

But after all those posts, we’re all still dead on the inside. Bawi tayo next year!
What’s your reaction to this year’s Miss Universe competition?
