Zeinab Harake vs Wilbert Tolentino: The Viral Social Media Feud, Explained

During the weekend, social media has been dominated by the Mariteses of the internet on the hunt for gossip involving several names in the vlogging industry. At the forefront are two social media personalities: vlogger Zeinab Harake and talent manager Wilbert Tolentino. What started it all?

Netizens first caught wind of the drama when Zeinab Harake unfriended Wilbert and several other content creators who were linked to her ex-partner Skusta Clee.

Then, last week, Zeinab made a cryptic post about so-called friends who stabbed her on the back. “Kaya kang lokohin ng kapwa mo babae, bading na akala mo inay inay mo, mga tropang lalaki na akala mo may respeto sayo, kasi babae ka, mga tanders na matured kuno na taga-payo para mabilog ka, higit sa lahat yung taong akala mong kakampi mo sa buhay, eh kalaban mo naman pala talaga,” she wrote.

She didn’t drop any names, but according to Wilbert, he gathered enough evidence that Zeinab was talking about him in the said post, claiming that the female content creator was acting “pa-victim.”


Wilbert Tolentino’s vlog

On Sunday, Wilbert Tolentino released a vlog entitled “Ang Rebelasyon” where he dropped “receipts” that revealed the alleged true colors of fellow content creator Zeinab Harake. He shared screenshots of Zeinab talking behind the back of celebrities and content creators. Among the many personalities she allegedly insulted are Robi Domingo, Sanya Lopez, Alex Gonzaga, Ivana Alawi, Donnalyn Bartolome, Jelai Andres, and Toni Fowler.

Wilbert claimed that Zeinab discouraged him from working with certain content creators, allegedly because they would take subscribers away from her or because she won’t gain anything from such a collaboration. He also accused her of being “mukhang pera,” claiming that Zeinab’s vlog introduction clip was partially funded by him for 500,000 pesos.

 

Zeinab goes live to respond

Responding to Wilbert’s accusations, Zeinab claimed that even if she received money from Wilbert, she was only doing her job, even helping him with content ideas without any charge. She also denied his accusation about her vlog introduction, saying she spent 1.1 million pesos, while Wilbert only contributed 300,000 pesos, and she would happily pay back the amount.

According to the female vlogger, the talent manager also showed her messages from other people, much as he did in his vlog, but she didn’t want to drop any names — like what Wilbert did.

 

Zeinab tried to fix the issue privately

Zeinab’s sister and fellow vlogger, Rana Harake, also published screenshots of Zeinab’s messages to Wilbert. According to the screenshots, Zeinab clarified that she wasn’t talking about Wilbert in her cryptic post, but Wilbert wanted her to apologize publicly since the “damage has been done.” But before Zeinab could do that, Wilbert went through with his public retaliation through his revelation vlog.

 

Other content creators react

When Wilbert’s vlog took the internet by storm, content creators whose names were implicated in the feud couldn’t escape the attention of netizens. Many of them have reacted to the issue, some doing so subtly, and others directly addressing the feud.

Vlogger Toni Fowler went live on Facebook to call out Zeinab who described Toni and her family as “trash.” She also recalled events that showed Zeinab’s negative treatment of fellow content creators and photoshoot staff members. However, according to Toni Fowler, Zeinab already reached out to her to apologize. She said she accepted the apology and that she won’t be saying anything further on the matter.

Robi Domingo, who was described as a celebrity “with no market” by Zeinab, published a cryptic tweet, which fans took as his reaction to the issue: “Oh wow. How true?”

In her Facebook livestream, Zeinab said she already reached out to the people involved and asked for forgiveness.

 

Netizens take sides

Since Wilbert’s vlog dropped and many personalities went live to respond, netizens have been heatedly discussing who’s in the right and who’s in the wrong. Some are siding with Wilbert, claiming there are two sides to every story. But others are saying he shouldn’t have cropped the messages if he didn’t want to hide anything. One also praised Zeinab for apologizing to the names dragged into the issue.

 

But most are really just Mariteses

While some netizens feel strongly about the issue, others are simply here for the ~tea~. A few even joked that this could all just be an elaborate prank or it could be a marketing move to help the content creators gain more views and engagement.


There are too many personalities involved in this feud that netizens can’t even keep up.

 

Lesson learned

A few netizens took this issue as a lesson not to believe everything they see on social media and a lesson for themselves and their friends to choose who to trust carefully and protect your circle of friends.

And a few more netizens pointed out that there are more important things to worry about than social media personalities feuding, such as the country’s failing economy and ever-rising inflation rate.
