Coco Martin and Julia Montes have officially confirmed that they’re dating. This didn’t come as a shock to many since rumors of the pair being in a relationship have been swirling on the Internet for about a decade now. Although it isn’t clear when exactly Coco and Julia met, Coco admits in an interview that when she was around 13 or 14 years old, he started pursuing her. At the time, he was 28 years old. This was before they worked on projects together.
“Ano pa siya nun bagets. Mga 13 or 14 [years old],” said the actor in a recent interview. “Tapos nag-tangka ako sa kaniya. Nag-tangkang mambola. Eh na-reject ako. Tapos after that, nag-kita na kami nun sa Walang Hanggan na.”

Rumors of a romance started swirling in 2011 but neither of the pair confirmed anything.
It took 12 years before Coco and Julia made public the real score between them. In May 2023, the couple admitted that they’ve been in a relationship since 2011, when Julia was 16 years old, and Coco was 30. This revelation was met with mixed reactions from the public who questioned the age gap and the fact that Julia was a minor during this time.

When Julia was 17 years old and Coco was 31, they were paired for ABS-CBN’s Walang Hanggan. It is said that during filming for the series, the pair developed a close friendship. But what the public did not know is that they were already dating during this time.

According to a source, Julia couldn’t handle Coco’s “double standards” in their relationship. The actor allegedly didn’t want her to act in mature scenes. When the actress was asked about it, all she had to say was “Basta happy ako.”

Julia took a break from projects sometime in 2018, when she was 22 years old, and flew to Germany to “make up for lost time with her father.” It was then that pregnancy rumors started to circulate. Many speculated that she opted to step away from the limelight to give birth.
In 2019, when Julia was 24 years old, celebrity talent manager Ogie Diaz spoke up about the pregnancy in a Facebook post.
“Hayaan nyo muna siyang namnamin ang pagiging ina,” Diaz responded to questions aking why Julia is taking a break from showbiz. “Hintayin natin si Julia. In time, magsasalita din yon. For now, let’s be happy for them. Hayaan n’yong i-enjoy nila ang isa’t isa.”
No one else from either Coco or Julia’s camp addressed the rumors.

“Napakasarap ng pakiramdam namin dahil 12 years na kaming magkasama, pero pareho pa rin tulad ng dati,” said Coco, now 41 years old, in an interview.
“Basta kami, hindi naman na kaming mga bata. Kung ano ‘yung nakikita at iniisip ng mga tao, ‘yun na ‘yun. Mas masarap ‘yung pakiramdam na pribado ang buhay namin, tahimik. Walang mga issue. Ito, masaya kami,” he adds.
As for Julia, who is now 28, she’s grateful that “God is the center” of their relationship.
“Kung ano ‘yung position namin ngayon, sobrang blessed lang talaga kami. And never nawala sa center si God so hindi nawawala ang mga good stuff,” said the actress.
