Thai BL dramas may have already taken over the internet, but here’s our fearless forecast: it won’t be long before Pinoy BL dramas follow suit. These dramas will give you the eye candy and kilig you expect from a BL drama, but thanks to their 100% Pinoy nature, they’re extra relatable as well. Here are just a few Filipino BL dramas you may want to check out.
Gameboys
Considered the first Filipino BL drama, Gameboys is about two young boys who connect with each other during the pandemic. Cairo (played by Elijah Canlas) is a live-stream gamer who loses to an unknown gamer, Gavreel Gavreel (Kokoy De Santos), who turns out to be Cairo’s fan and secret admirer. When Cairo invites Gavreel for a rematch, Gavreel confesses his feelings. The first nine episodes of Gameboys were shot completely online because of pandemic restrictions.

Hello Stranger
Another lockdown drama, Hello Stranger is about Mico (JC Alcantara), a nerdy college student, who is partnered with star basketball player Xavier (Tony Labrusca) for a school project. They’re complete opposites whose relationship gets a rough start, but over the course of their online interactions, they form an unlikely bond that goes beyond friendship.

In Between (Sa Pagitan ng Kamusta at Paalam)
In Between is about two childhood best friends, Taurus (played by Migs Villasis) and Otep (Genesis Redido), who develop romantic feelings about each other when they enter adulthood. The show tells the story of their relationship in a non-linear way that makes it an interesting watch, but what makes the series really shine is the stellar performance from the cast.

Kumusta Bro
The first of its kind, Kumusta Bro is an interactive BL drama that was first broadcasted via livestream on the Kumu app. Starring Kristof Garcia (from Bidaman) and Sky Quizon (from Pinoy Big Brother), Kumusta Bro is about old friends who are reunited through the livestream app and fall in love.

Sky (Miko Gallardo) is a young culinary intern who’s determined to make a name for himself in the food industry. But his evil boss Ace (Iñaki Torres) won’t make that easy for him. However, things get more complicated when the two start catching feelings for each other.

Truly Very Yours
Wannabe scriptwriter Mark (Marky Erasga) is stuck in a quarantine rut and is running out of ideas for his screenplay. To get inspiration for his writing, he “prank calls” an ex — clearly, Mark still isn’t over him. When new flame Kevin (Wex André) starts seriously pursuing him, will Mark have room in his heart to commit? Filmed during quarantine Truly Very Yours is told through a vlog format, and with only five episodes, it’s a short and sweet watch.

The first BL drama to be aired on Philippine national television, My Extraordinary follows the love story of college students Ken (Enzo Santiago) and Shake (Darwin Yu). How will they stay true to themselves in spite of society’s expectations?

Gaya Sa Pelikula
19-year-old Karl (played by Paolo Pangilinan) is an architecture student who was forced by his parents to move out to learn how to be financially independent. He takes on an online writing job, but his client goes MIA instead of paying him. Struggling to pay his bills, he takes in cocky neighbor Vlad (Ian Pangilinan), who proposes to share Karl’s space for the rest of the sem break in exchange for paying his rent. And of course, things develop between the two.
