We all know these amazing actors and actresses as the different characters they’ve played, but before they became the handsome and beautiful Oppas and Unnies we all know and love, they were ordinary students too. You’d be surprised by how some of these actors and actresses have transformed since their days out of the spotlight. Here’s what your favorite K-drama stars looked like before they made it big.

 

Song Hye-kyo

Before Song Hye-kyo stared in multiple K-dramas and movies, she was a simple high school student. She was discovered when she won first place at the SunKyung Smart Model contest at the age of 14. She would later on play small roles in different K-dramas until she starred in the hit K-drama Autumn In My Heart, when she was 18.

 

Hyun Bin

Hyun Bin got his start playing small roles in different dramas, first with the 2003 series Bodyguard. It was only in 2005 when he became popular because of the hit drama My Name Is Kim Samsoon. He then went on to star in some of Korea’s most popular K-Dramas and is now one of the most in-demand actors.

IU

This beautiful singer-actress was once a simple school girl that had dreams of rising to stardom. IU had to go through twenty auditions before being able to debut as a solo singer at the age of 15. She would make her acting debut in the drama Dream High and would star in multiple-hit K-Dramas.

 

Lee Min-ho

Lee Min-ho used to be a part of his school’s football team, that all changed when he got injured. He eventually started to get interested in acting. He auditioned for multiple acting roles and often cast in small roles. He made his breakthrough in the hit 2009 K-Drama Boys Over Flowers, and the rest is history.

 

Park Min-young


After getting small roles in dramas and commercials, Park Min-young landed a starring role in the coming of age drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal. She would later on star in hit K-Dramas like The City Hunter, Healer, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and Her Private Life.

 

Park Seo-jun

Before he made his acting debut, Park Seo-jun enlisted in the military when he was nineteen. He made his acting debut in 2011 as an actor in a music video, his first starring role was in the drama Kill Me, Heal Me. One of his most memorable roles was in the drama She Was Pretty where he played a cold editor in chief. Today Park Seo-jun is one of Korea’s most bankable actors and has starred in multiple K-Dramas.

 

Suzy

Suzy made her debut in the girl group Miss A, after the group’s success she landed an acting role in the 2011 drama Dream High. She would continue to balance idol life and acting life by starring at some of the most memorable K-Dramas. Today, she continues to grace multiple magazine covers and star at hit K-Dramas.

 

Lee Jong-suk

Before he became one of Korea’s most bankable actors, he once graced the runway as a runway model. Lee Jong-suk made his acting debut in the drama prosecutor princess and would also star in the drama High Kick. His breakout role was in the drama School 2013, after this he continued to star at multiple K-Dramas.
