Are you a fan of K-pop?  How could you not?!?

Well, Korean pop culture is growing rapidly internationally, and it’s been here in the Philippines since 2011. A lot of K-pop groups also had their concert tours in Manila, and they even go here to have vacations. (Shout out to Cebu! You’re so lucky).

This is a list of essential K-Pop songs that are worth listening to. Consider this an introduction:

“Crush”- I.O.I.

I.O.I was a one-year girl group project of Mnet. “Crush” is one of their songs, which was released on digital album. Unsurprisingly, the song is all about describing the feeling when you have a crush.

“Why” – Kim Taeyeon

Do you know SNSD? Well, Taeyeon is the leader of that girl group in Korea. “Why” is from her second mini album, which is a mix of EDM, pop, and R&B tunes.

“Why So Lonely” –  Wonder Girls

Wonder Girls became locally known because of their song “Nobody” that was a hit around 2008. Their song, “Why So Lonely”, is  a reggae-pop  ditty, which is a departure  from their usual songs.

“Playing with Fire” – Blackpink

Blackpink is a hip-hop  girl group, created by the same company that brought us  2ne1 and Big Bang. “Playing with Fire” is one of the songs in their second album, and it has a tropical house feel.

“Oh Nana” –  K.A.R.D

K.A.R.D hasn’t debut yet in Korea, but they just had a tour in U.S. They are also a co-ed group, rare in K-Pop, and as such they have garnered a lot of fans not just in Korea but all over the world as well. “Oh Nana” is one of their project before their debut. Check out their other songs, which are also bop.

“I Need U” –  BTS

Yes, BTS is quite popular here. They had quite a few concert tours here in the Philippines already. And they just got an award in Billboard Music Awards for this year! “I Need U” is one of their more popular song.

“TT” –  Twice

Twice is a very popular girl group in Korea, and you can hear their songs everywhere when you go there. “TT” caught a lot of attention  because of its upbeat and addicting flow. (And to those who wonder, the “TT” pertains to the crying emoticon used by Koreans.)

“Bang bang bang” –  Big Bang

The popular group Big Bang has a lot of songs that have been hits internationally (“Fantastic Baby” ring a bell?). “Bang bang bang” is a song from their latest album, which, not surprisingly, also became a bop hit in Korea.
