With long weekends and weather that switches between sweltering hot and wet and gloomy, August pretty much gives us enough reasons to spend lazy weekends bundled up in bed and watching Netflix shows (if you aren’t the type to check out all the events happening this month, at least).

Here are 8 of the new upcoming Netflix Originals you should catch this August!

Disenchantment

Via YouTube: Netflix

No one would have guessed that Matt Groening would ever create something outside of The Simpsons, until Disenchantment was introduced. This new show possesses the same disturbing humor and occasional violence that The Simpsons was known and loved for as it follows the story of Princess Bean — a rebel and an alcoholic — her elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 17.

Ghoul

Via YouTube: Netflix

From the makers of Insidious and Get Out, Ghoul is an Indian horror miniseries about a prisoner who arrives at a remote military interrogation center and turns the tables on his interrogators, exposing their most shameful secrets.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 24.

Like Father

Via YouTube: Netflix

This new heartfelt Netflix film is made for daughters with unresolved daddy issues. Like Father follows the story of a young executive (Kristen Bell) who, after being left at the altar, ends up on her Caribbean honeymoon cruise with the last person she ever expected: her estranged father (Kelsey Grammer) who left his family for his career.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 3.

Flavors of Youth

Via YouTube: Netflix

From the studio that brought to us Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name) comes this anime film that consists of three different stories of three different people in three different cities which are all connected by a central theme: that love and happiness can never be overcome by the test of time.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 4.

Insatiable

Via YouTube: Netflix

When an unattractive and bullied girl suddenly blossoms into a beautiful woman, you’d think of all the clichés that films and TV have used time and time again with a storyline like that. However, it’s different with new Netflix show Insatiable. Because when Patty (Debby Ryan) becomes an instant school sensation after losing so much weight, she decides to use her newfound power to get revenge on all the kids who have bullied her.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 10.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Via YouTube: Netflix

Based on the best-selling novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society follows free-spirited writer Juliet Ashton (Lily James) who gains an interest in writing a book about the titular book club and how they formed during the occupation of Guernsey in World War II.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 10.

Pinky Malinky

Via YouTube: Netflix

Those of you who are familiar with The Amazing World of Gumball on Cartoon Network will recognize the humor and storytelling of this new animated show. Pinky Malinky is a kid who sees the bright side of life despite being born a hotdog, as long as he has his two best friends right by his side.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 17.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Via YouTube: Netflix

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is sure to be this month’s top Netflix romcom that will be the talk of the internet. In this Netflix original, Lara Jean’s (Lana Condor) love life goes from imaginary to out of control when her secret letters to every boy she’s ever fallen for are mysteriously mailed out to each of them.

Watch it on Netflix starting August 17.
