If there’s one thing that we’ve been constantly doing while quarantined, it’s the long romantic walks to the kitchen or the fridge. Many have been trying different recipes to pass the time, from whipped coffee to sourdough bread. Instant noodles have been a staple too, specifically Pancit Canton, and you can take it up to the next level with these combinations! Who knows, you started the quarantine with only a few cooking skills and once the ECQ is over, you can be this guy:

Eggs

You can never go wrong with this classic pairing. Eggs will always be good with Pancit Canton, no matter how you make it: boiled, fried, poached, scrambled, or even with an omelet. If you want to take it up a notch, try this tortang Pancit Canton recipe. The possibilities are endless with eggs!

Chili oil and Garlic Flakes

Do you love spicy food? If Pancit Canton’s spicy flavors aren’t enough, take it up a notch with your favorite chili oil. Because chili oil makes any food better, TBH. For more flavor, sprinkle a few (a lot) of crispy garlic flakes or just get a jar of your favorite chili garlic oil. Best paired with a glass of your favorite soda.

Sesame oil and Peanut butter

You might find this an odd pairing but if you’re craving for a plate of Pad Thai, this is the easiest and cheapest alternative. Use the calamansi variant, add some sesame oil, and the classic Lily’s peanut butter and voila, you just flew to Thailand without leaving your home. You can also add chili flakes if you like it spicy, or any meat of your choice.

Cheese, cheese, cheese!

Cheese makes everything better, especially when there’s lots of it. It may sound unhealthy but you’ve already started with something unhealthy in the first place; just double the trouble, right? And the best part about this is you can choose any kind of cheese you like, whether it’s a simple quick-melt cheese or some stringy mozzarella if you’re feeling boujee AF.

Cream and Spicy Tuna

Craving for carbonara? You can make one easily with ingredients you probably already have at home. A pack of sweet and spicy or original Pancit Canton, evaporated milk, canned spicy tuna, and you’re good to go! Don’t forget the garlic and onions to sauté with the canned tuna. To make it even creamier, you can also add cheese!

Meat and Vegetables

Tired of the dehydrated vegetables the pack comes with? Replace it with fresh ones and try to mimic the classic pancit canton dish. Add carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, and snow peas, or any vegetables you like. Don’t forget the meat of your choice, whether it’s shrimp, chicken, or even fish ball and kikiam.

K-style Noodles

Have you been watching too many K-dramas you’re suddenly craving for Korean food? Try making the classic Rabokki (ramen + tteokbokki) with Pancit Canton! All you need are rice cakes, gochujang (red pepper paste), soy sauce, sugar, garlic, spring onions, fish cakes, and boiled eggs. All simmered in one big pot. Don’t worry about the ingredients though; there are Korean marts that deliver despite the quarantine.

Tasty or pandesal

You can never go wrong with the classic combination. Hot pandesal, pancit canton, and coffee – that’s a killer breakfast combo already. Forget about the white bread bought from grocery stores, Tasty bread from your local panaderia is much better with pancit canton. Does it remind you of your childhood meriendas too?
