8 Telenovelas to Watch Out for
by Abu Poblete
2016 already has serye addicts hooked on their sets as teleseryes like Dolce Amore, Be My Lady, Wish I May, Ang Panday, That’s My Amboy, and The Story of Us got the year started on the right foot. Even though OTWOL just ended–a moment of silence, if you will, for JaDine’s beautiful wedding–there are a lot of shows to look forward to that will give you your fix. Fret not, here are 8 upcoming teleseryes that will have you rushing home from work like a starving cheetah.
8.Written In Our Stars (ABS-CBN)
Directed by: Andoy L. Ranay
Armed with a trailer that will make you ugly-cry, Written In Our Stars already looks like it’s going to be another fan-favorite from Dreamscape Entertainment (On The Wings Of Love, Ang Probinsyano, Nathaniel).
Bringing back their Sprite and Starting Over Again days, Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual will be starring in this Andoy Ranay-directed drama serye, together with Sam Milby and Jolina Magdangal. The shooting has been delayed because of Gonzaga’s pregnancy rumors, and we’re yet to hear of the show’s future, but we know the wait will be worth it.
7. Naku, Boss Ko! (GMA)
Premiere: April 25 on GMA Telebabad Block
Directed by: Marlon Rivera
Love knows no poliitical boundaries in GMA’s upcoming Political-Romcom teleserye Naku, Boss Ko! Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid (or “GabRu”) star as lovers from competing political parties and different economic backgrounds. They will be starring with Martin del Rosario and Kylie Padilla.
6. The Millionaire’s Wife (GMA)
Premiere: March 2016
Directed by: Gina Alajar
Kapuso stars Mike Tan and Andrea Torres will be paired together in GMA’s new teleserye The Millionaire’s Wife. They will be starring alongside other big stars like Ina Raymundo, Sid Lucero, Rich Asuncion, Jaclyn Jose, Tessie Tomas, Jean Garcia and Robert Arevalo.
5. Super D (ABS-CBN)
Premiere: March 14
Directed by: Lino S. Cayetano and Frasco Mortiz
Assuming the series’ title means “Super Daddy,” Super D is drama-fantasy that looks like it’s going to be along the lines of family-friendly shows like Nathaniel and NingNing. Starring comedian Ryan Rems, Bianca Manalo and Marvin Agustin, Super D will replace And I Love You So.
