Yesterday we woke up to the news that the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) has been extended once again and this time it’s until May 15, 2020. President Rodrigo Duterte has announced that the extension is for Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and “all other high-risk” provinces in Luzon (which basically means… Luzon, right?). This news is no surprise given that we aren’t nowhere near “flattening the curve” any time soon unless mass testing is done.
Even before the announcement, Filipinos were already trending #ECQSeason3 online. The tweets will either crack you up or make you cry from relating to it too much. Humor has always been a coping mechanism of Filipinos and it’s good to see the bleak situation hasn’t dulled it one bit.

Don’t be surprised if they installed more ‘seasons’ to this nightmare of a series, our country needs it to help curb the virus. What we can do is to keep ourselves in check by staying at home and practicing social distancing. We can also continue to support fellow Filipinos by offering any aid to frontliners and extending a helping hand to the marginalized in the community. If we’re careful enough, we might get our normal lives back before this year ends.
