All these talk about God and stupidity getting you down? Needing something to buoy up your spirits? Look no further! We’ve listed 8 Christian bands and artists with moving music in different genres that just might appeal to you. Who knew Christian rap, Christian EDM, and Christian rock is possible?

1. Hillsong Music

Via YouTube: hillsongunitedTV

Hillsong has no doubt taken the world by storm. Their emotional, hair-raising, and goosebumps-inducing songs are loved by many churches and it’s evident by the number of sold-out concerts they hold every year. This year, their UNITED x Young & Free Asia tour will take them to the Philippines for two nights on June 15 and 16 with the first night sold out.

Listen to: Wonder, So Will I, Oceans, Real Love, This is Living

2. Shai Linne

Via YouTube: Gospel Riot

Who says Christian songs can’t be rapped? Christian rap might raise many eyebrows but it’s just as good as your go-to contemporary rock and mellow Christian artists, maybe even better. Shai Linne has been a Christian hip-hop artist since 2002 and is famous for his track Fal$e Teacher$ in which he referenced 12 people whom he branded as false teachers (Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Paula White, and many more). With the guts of this artist alone, he’s worth the listen! And if he hurts you with the truth in his lyrics, then that’s how you know he’s effective.

Listen to: Fal$e Teacher$, Atonement Q&A, I’m Hot, Election

3. Chris Tomlin

Chris Tomlin is a Christian music artist, worship leader, and a songwriter from Texas. He started releasing songs in 2001 and has since then been a part of conferences, music festivals, and toured around the world. His soothing voice gave life to many songs that are sung during praise and worships until today.

Listen to: How Great is Our God, Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone), God of this City, At the Cross

4. Jesus Culture

Via YouTube: Jesus Culture

Jesus Culture is a music label for Jesus Culture Ministry that started a movement in 1999 led by youth pastor Banning Liebscher and with the desire to see generations impacted by encounters with the presence of God. Since 2006, they have released a number of albums on their label including albums from solo artists and worship leaders Chris Quilala, and Kim Walker-Smith.

Listen to: Your Love Never Fails, Rooftops, I Want to Know You, My Soul Longs for You

5. Planetshakers Music

Via YouTube: planetshakerstv

Planetshakers has about 30 albums under its belt and still continues to make music inspired by their mission to unite generations to worship God. Just like Hillsong, Planetshakers go on tour annually to the USA, UK, Europe, South Africa, Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand.

Listen to: Nothing is Impossible, You are Good, Beautiful Savior, Endless Praise

6. MercyMe

Via YouTube: mercymeVEVO

MercyMe’s lead singer Bart Millard didn’t have plans to become a lead singer. He wanted to become a football player but unfortunately, during a game, he broke both of his ankles. Having required filling an elective, he chose choir. Afterwards, his youth pastor invited him to help out with the worship band where he had a chance to sing. Now, MercyMe has 6 independent albums and 9 studio albums under their label INO Records.

Listen to: I Can Only Imagine, Even If, Greater, Flawless

7. Casting Crowns

Via YouTube: CastingCrownsVEVO

Casting Crowns might sound familiar or might have been famous for their song Who am I, but this band has more beautiful songs to offer. Casting Crowns is a contemporary Christian rock band composed of worship leaders and started by youth pastor Mark Hall. The band has made its own impact to Christian music, having been around since 1999. They are currently preparing for a new album.

Listen to: Oh My Soul, Glorious Day, Just Be Held, God of All My Days

8. Urban Rescue

Via YouTube: Urban Rescue

This revival band from Los Angeles has “an untamed passion for worship” desiring to see broken cities and lives restored.  They have been making music since 2009 but have only released their first studio album, Wild Heart, in 2016 under Sparrow Records and Rend Family Records. Urban Rescue specializes in Christian electro pop and Christian EDM, something that’s very unusual but they make it work. They aren’t as famous as other Christian bands but they deserve your listen!

Listen to: Never Stop, Song of my Father, Your Love is Holding me Now
