Here’s Why the Internet’s Currently LSS-ing on This ‘The Broken Marriage Vow’ Remix

It has been months since actress Jodi Sta. Maria as Dr. Jill Ilustre dropped a bomb at dinner with the family of her husband’s mistress, but that iconic scene will forever be remembered by the viewers of The Broken Marriage Vow. Now, that scene is making a comeback in the online sphere in the most unexpected ways — in the form of an audio remix.

 

The remix

On Sunday, content creator AC Soriano (@ItsACsLife on social media) went live on Instagram to stage a one-man show featuring the teleserye characters of Jodi Sta. Maria. Dubbed “Jodi Sta Maria: The Unauthorized Rusical”, the show saw him transform into different characters from Maya in Be Careful with My Heart to Amor Powers in Pangako Sa ‘Yo, then Marissa in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, and finally, Doc Jill from The Broken Marriage Vow.


In the musical performance, one of the songs that instantly captured the attention of the audience and the internet at large is one that remixed Benny Benassi’s electropop classic “Satisfaction” with the iconic lines from The Broken Marriage Vow: “Papunta pa lang tayo sa exciting part. Your daughter is sleeping with my husband.”

If you’ve been online at all these past few days, you’ve probably seen or heard at least one of these lines from that iconic scene, and it’s thanks to AC that it’s going viral once again.

 

The actress gives it a nod

For the past two months, AC has been impersonating Jill Ilustre in a bob-with-bangs wig and chic patriotic wardrobe. He finally caught the attention of Jodi Sta. Maria when netizens kept on tagging the actress in his Doc Jill skit where he “threatened” to kidnap her character’s son Gio. The two exchanged messages, and after AC shared his plan to stage the musical, the actress said she’d like to attend.


Along with 12,000 others, Jodi watched the half-hour Instagram live. “Ang effort nito,” she praised the content creator in the comments.

After the audio went viral and so many posts about it have been published, even Jodi has been laughing at the hilarity of it all.

 

VIU makes an edit

Streaming platform Viu also joined in the fun and made an edit of clips featuring Jodi Sta. Maria as Doc Jill in the dinner scene. The short video catapulted the audio remix into further notoriety. Viu is in partnership with ABS-CBN to stream the series on their platform.


Following this internet virality, netizens quickly came up with so many memes and edits based on the “Satisfaction” x The Broken Marriage Vow remix. There are so many iterations of those lines that select words and phrases like “your daughter,” “papunta,” “David,” and “America” have made it to Twitter’s trending topics again and again.
