Beach Cheers Celebration Friendship Summer Fun Dinner ConceptSummer Food Adventures:
8 New Restaurants to
Try this April
By Shen Mascariñas

Summer means beach trips, unlimited naps and food adventures—at least for most people. If you’re part of the working yet (ironically) broke-ass millennial lot, then you can probably forget about the first two. So you’re left with food adventures this summer. Bummed? Don’t be.

Fill your calendar with a visit to these restaurants for summer escapades through food. You can finally quench your thirst for something different, exciting and, of course, delicious.

8. Lucky Chick

2F UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City
(02) 958 5349 | Facebook
Open every day from 11am to 11pm

Fried chicken joints are everywhere, but really, how can you say no to fried chicken that’s juicy, crispy and flavorful? Lucky Chick is from the makers of Bowery NYC Comfort Food, so you can expect the same quality in their new venture. Their fried chicken comes in three flavors—Original, Hot Chick and Lemon Garlic. Choose from three kinds of gravy—Original, Apple Cider and Honey.
They also offer sandwiches, which The Bowery is known for, appetizers and desserts. Bless your cheat day with an indulgent order of their Chicken Skin, too.

7. Amacena

One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites, 445 Tagaytay-Calamba Road, Barrio Sungay West, Tagaytay City
(02) 584 4111 | Facebook | Website
Open every day from 7am to 10pm

Tagaytay’s restaurant pool just got better with the recent addition of Amacena. Chef Luigi Muhlach transforms classic Filipino dishes into modern comfort food. They use humble longganisa to elevate macaroni and cheese, for example. They’ve also perfected lechon kawali’s fat to meat ratio and of course, the crucial crispy skin. It’s paired with monggo puree for balance.
Look forward to other interesting entrees, and don’t leave without having dessert. Their leche flan turon with vanilla ice cream will surely end your meal on a happy note.

6. Texas Roadhouse

The Bistro Group has done it again. They’ve gifted foodies with T.G.I. Friday’s, Italianni’s and now they’re bringing in Texas Roadhouse. On April 28, the US’ number one steak chain is entering Manila’s culinary scene. Get your appetite ready for premium steaks, ribs and other well-executed American dishes.

5. Sicilian Roast by Guiseppe

100 C. Palanca corner Dela Rosa Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City
0947 343 7194 | Facebook
Open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 2:30pm then 5pm to 10:30pm

Try Sicilian Roast’s Italian fare and you’ll save money worth of a Visayas plane ticket. Legaspi Village now houses a Bohol favorite; Makati-dwellers, rejoice! Head to Palanca Street for Sicilian Roast’s high quality pizza, pasta and grilled meats. Try to veer away from your usual carb-on-carb combo, so you can try their specialties—grilled seafood, lamb and chicken. They also take pride in their wine, so go ahead and treat yourself to a glass or two (or five).
