Last year’s Wanderland Music Festival was a dream come true when Irish band Kodaline headlined the event (it was also their debut on Philippine stage!). This year, another concert wish was granted when they came back to Manila for their Politics of Living tour, their first solo concert in the country.
Held this week at the New Frontier Theater, the Irish band didn’t disappoint with an emotional yet satisfying setlist that turned the concert into a cry fest.
If you were there, we feel you. Post-concert depression sucks. Scroll down and cry with us as we list down our favorite moments from the tour:
The blending of their voices

Their live performance is basically the same as their recording voice, only more eargasmic. It’s quite unbelievable; how could their voices blend so well?
The acoustic version of The One

One of the crowd favorites, “The One” is definitely their most romantic song—even made more romantic when vocalist Steve Garrigan sang the acoustic version. The audience flashing their phone lights while singing along to the chorus is one of the concert’s highlights, that’s for sure.
All. I. Want.

Ah, the iconic “All I Want” as the encore song. How could it get better than this? We bet you’re internally crying.
High Hopes as the finale song

While some people speculated “All I Want” would be the finale song (like in their Wanderland 2018 setlist), ending the concert with “High Hopes” was a better idea. Kodaline inspires everyone to have high hopes.
The solemn venue

We loved their outdoor performance last year, but hearing them live in an indoor arena made the concert feel more solemn.
All the songs from Politics of Living

If you’ve been following Kodaline for a while now, you’re probably one of those who was disappointed when they delayed the release of this album to a later date. They thought it needed a little bit more polishing, and we can say that their hard work has paid off.
Their silly camera moves

The crowd was surely hyped that night especially towards the end, when the band filmed the audience while singing “High Hopes.” Can we be part of their music video, maybe?
Merch!
A concert experience won’t be complete without purchasing their original merchandise. T-shirts and light sticks were available last night by the entrance, something you could proudly wear on their next Manila concert!(*fingers crossed*)
Special thanks to MMI Live.
