Today is World Mental Health Day, a day for global mental health awareness and a reminder for everyone to go against the social stigma surrounding it. In the Philippines, mental health is not a topic that is freely discussed as much as we like. There are certain social constructs we need to change in order to open up to our friend or to break through the walls of a family member. We’ve got a long way to go but we’re comforted that as each day goes by, we’re learning how to deal with our own mental health and that of those around us.
It takes both sun and rain to grow a flower. Let this be a gentle reminder to everyone who feels stuck in a rainy season.
