If you aren’t on the Trese hype train yet, WHY NOT? The series just landed on Netflix last June 11 and it’s already the talk of the town. Well, even much more than it already was before. Trese, a modern classic Filipino comic series first published in 2005, is created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. The story follows the life of young Alexandra Trese as she investigates and deals with the criminal supernatural creatures that roam the underworld of Manila. Trese features Philippine mythological creatures like you’ve never seen them before.

The main series has seven books: Murder at Balete Drive, Unreported Murders, Mass Murders, Last Seen After Midnight, Midnight Tribunal, High Tide at Midnight, and Shadow Witness. In case you’d want to read the komiks, we’ve listed down online stores where you can get copies.

However, don’t be disappointed if Trese komiks are mostly sold out. The good news is you can keep tabs on these online stores for when they restock their shelves. In the meantime, go ahead and purchase the ones available before they run out of copies again.

Avenida Books

Avenida Books has available volumes on their website right now. Here are the books available from the main series: #1: Murder at Balete Drive (P235), #2 Unreported Murders (P235), and #3 Mass Murders (P325). Other volumes and other Trese stories are currently sold out. Snag those books before they go out of stock too! Get them here. You can also follow Avenida Books on Facebook to get updates on their restock.

Fully Booked

Almost all of the Trese series are sold out on Fully Booked online except for #2: Unreported Murders (P235). You can also purchase the Trese Lite Postcard, Book 1 (P600). Get both of them here. The rest of the series are currently out of stock but you can follow Fully Booked on Facebook or create an account on the website so you’re notified when it gets restocked.

ComiXology

Are you more of a digital books kind of person? You can buy Trese‘s HD digital copies via comiXology. So far, they’ve only got #1 Murder at Balete Drive for the digital version but more books from the main series will be available soon come June 30, 2021. You can get Volume 1 for $16.99 (roughly P813.43). Place your order here. The pros? You won’t have to wait for the physical copy, you can read right away. The cons? It’s pricey and you won’t have the chance to proudly display the Trese comics on your shelf once you’ve completed them.

National Bookstore

Right now, National Bookstore needs to restock their Trese archive. The only available Trese material is the Trese Lite Postcard, Book 1 (P600). But you can sign up to get notified for when the main series will be restocked. Click on the book you want here, input your email address, and click on “Notify me when available.”

Lazada and Shopee

You’ll have a higher chance of getting your hands on the books if you search through Lazada and Shopee. Fully Booked and National Bookstore both have stores in Lazada so when they restock, you’ll most likely find it there too. You can also find Trese komiks on Shopee. Here are the available ones you can add to your cart right now. Even if you didn’t get to find a book, there are tons of Trese merch on Shopee so at least you can still check out a Trese product.

Carousell and Facebook Marketplace

Aside from secondhand fashion pieces, furniture, and gadgets, Carousell (formerly OLX) is also a gold mine for pre-loved books. A quick search for “Trese” yields listings that are half the price of the original comic. And if you’re on a tight budget but want to get your hands on the comic ASAP, you can always scour Facebook Marketplace.

‘Trese’ shirt

Other than the original comics, you’ll want to get your hands on this Trese t-shirt merch by Dan Matutina. It’s available online via Daily Grind store. The orange shirt has a cool, minimalist design. The front shows Trese’s weapon of choice, in an art style that makes it look like the handle is number 1 and the blade is number 3. At the back, the stylized “Trese” has its co-creators’ name under it — Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. Cop it for P695 here.

Where to watch Trese

If you haven’t watched Trese yet, that’s cool. Maybe you were busy over the weekend. You can find all six episodes of the first season available on Netflix. Prepare to get sucked into the world of Alexandra Trese as she battles Filipino mythological creatures that loiter around the streets of Metro Manila.

And while you’re at it, check out our interview with Trese co-creator Budjette Tan!
