Infomercials can be great fun to watch. More often than not, the products presented on TV seem like genius ideas, perfect for personal use. Given the way the universe works, it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that a lot of these infomercials are guilty of false advertising. While some products on the market actually work and are pretty awesome, some products look stupid from the get-go. Makes you wonder who approved these ideas. There are tons of dumb As-Seen-On-TV products that are ridiculous, but these 8 take the cake.

8. Skinnies Instant Arm Lift

Have sagging arms? Well, the people at Skinnies Instant Arm Lift can fix that! NOT! This is an insulting, inefficient and downright lazy product that the creators should be ashamed of. They basically “designed” a kind of tape that you’re supposed to place on the back of your sagging arm and then follow it up by giving it a gentle lift for an illusion of younger looking arms. It’s just tape, for crying out loud. Users described it as hard to use and painful. It’s also a very degrading and unpractical product that shouldn’t have seen the light of day. Oh, and get this—they’ve got thigh lifts as well.

7. Air Curler

False advertising at it’s very finest! It looks like a beaker that you’re supposed to attach to a blow-dryer. It promises to give you luscious curls within seconds. Except that it doesn’t. The ludicrous device makes you look like Edward Scissorhands. It just doesn’t work. For that cheap, and with that cringe-worthy design, it’s best just to opt for a regular curling iron. Keep away from the Air Curler, ladies.

6. Go-Go Pillow

So it’s basically a case for your tablet. The question is–why on earth is it a pillow? It looks cool and all, but honestly, it’s a dumb idea. First of all, its design blocks access to some of the tablet’s controls. It also lays the tablet flat instead of propping it up like an ideal case would aka most other cases in the market. It’s more of a hindrance than it is a convenience, so do yourself a favor and invest in something else.

5. Fat Magnet

Ah, the Fat Magnet. Looking like a device from the future, the Fat Magnet was designed to absorb the excess fat from greasy food through the use of magnets. Riiiiight. Well, it was tested by lots of buyers and basically what it did was wipe the top layer of grease off of the pot. It didn’t suck the fat out like the creators promised, which is something you can easily do with a paper towel. There you have it folks, the Fat Magnet–ineffective, overpriced and a complete waste of time!

4. Better Marriage Blanket

No sugarcoating here, the Better Marriage Blanket is a comforter designed to “capture” your spouses’ fart during sleep, thus making your marriage better. Freaking genius, right? Says a lot about our culture really, and how dumb some people can get. They claim to use the same fabric the US military uses to defend against chemical weapons. What a waste of material given that farts are methane and completely harmless.

3. The Back Up

This team behind this product possessed no creativity at all. It’s a shotgun rack that you’re supposed to attach to the side of your bed and conceal with your sheets. Basically, you pay for two ordinary hooks hanging from the side of your bed! Anybody could have thought of that, and honestly, it could be used for better things. Promoting this on TV wasn’t a good idea. Sure, shoot an intruder from the comfort of your own bed! Or allow your angry partner to do you in, with ease. 2. Potty Patch

Are you too lazy to go out and walk your dog for a quick bathroom break? Then you shouldn’t even have a dog. The Potty Patch is designed for lazy people who would rather neglect their pets and let them pee inside on a patch of absorbent artificial grass. Let that sink in. Or soak in, for that matter. It makes the house smell bad and is downright disgusting and unhygienic. Please, do not invest in this dumb product. Love your pets, give them the attention they deserve.

1. Shake Weight

Okay, admittedly the product could possibly be effective, but come on, just look at the way the thing works! If you want to look like you’re doing the dirty deed (to yourself) while working out, then by all means, purchase the Shake Weight.

But really, even if it can have some benefits to your core, science proves that regular full body work outs such as weight-lifting and circuit training are far better for the development of physique as well a healthy workout regime. This product is actually more hilarious than it is dumb, but still deserves the top spot because of all the popularity it has gained.
