Halloween is just around the corner and that means you’ve got another excuse to wow everyone with a costume. But there’s one problem — you’re too lazy to pull out all the stops this year. Not to worry, you might not be the best dressed but you’ll have the most entertaining costume out there. Check out these ideas for last minute Halloween costumes based on memes.
Corn kid
View this post on Instagram
It’s corn! This adorable corn lover, a.k.a 7-year-old Tariq, has taken the Internet by storm. His innocence and pure love for the “big lump with knobs” plus the catchy TikTok remix and the memes are one of the best parts of 2022.
The costume: A shirt with car designs + an ear of corn (You’ll never go hungry throughout the party!)
Melai and her daughter
The latest “meme” that’s going rounds on social media is Melai Cantiveros’ over-the-top daughter. One look at the picture and you can practically hear it — “Mama, thank you very much! You know that I love chicken nuggets!” And if you have a third friend, they can be the younger sibling: “Me too, Mamaaa!”
The costume: Red shirt for Melai + School uniform + French braid + A plate of chicken nuggets (Yes, it’s food again.)
Crying Ella Cruz
This moment from Ella Cruz’s interview with Boy Abunda as she cries about being bullied for starring in the controversial film Maid in Malacanang has birthed an abundance of memes. There’s one where she sings alongside Freddie Mercury and one where she gets on the wrong bus.
The costume: Short, straight hair + Necklace with star pendant + Dusty pink blazer + Lapel + Tons of blush and fake tears (Most important!)
Blindfolded Atty. Leni Robredo
After the initial results of the elections were out and former Vice President Leni Robredo knew she lost the race, she went on Facebook live to showcase hundreds of gifts her supporters gave her throughout the campaign. Thousands of Kakampinks watched the live, trying to come to terms with her loss. But what many did not expect is that Atty. Leni would cheer them up even with a simple thing as trying on a sparkly blindfold.
The costume: Powder blue semi-oversized blouse + Watch with white straps + Sparkly black and white blindfold (So you can just sleep when the party gets boring)
“Titanium” music notes
There was one battle cry during the elections that made the Internet LOL — Toni Gonzaga’s “Sabay sabay!”. At grand rallies for President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s campaign, Gonzaga would hype the crowd with Sia’s “Titanium.” But folks soon noticed that whenever it’s time to hit the high notes, she would point the mic to the crowd and ask them to sing it back to her. Classic tactics.
The costume: Red dress (or waistcoat) with a deep V-neck + Printed music sheet of “Titanium (Toni’s Ver)” taped to your chest
Conyo boy
Let’s admit it, we all love PGAG’s antics on social media. Their conyo series has managed to make every Pinoy on the Internet laugh and call our morning taho “soya bean curd.” Sheesh! It’s pretty easy to pull up to a party looking like JiConyo — a.k.a. Jico Umali — pare. All you have to do bro is make gaya his lower-lip bite while squinting your eyes and lifting your eyebrows bro. And don’t forget the two-fingers-to-the-elbow move dude. And the conyo speak. Never forget the conyo speak.
The costume: Literally any “BGC boy” outfit + the iconic JiConyo face + curly hair (If you’re extra). You could also go for the magtataho OOTD with the kit.
Proud Mark Villar
After Sen. Mark Villar posted a video on the new Cebu Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) and hashtagged it #BuildBuildBuild, many thought it was a project by the government. A few days later, engineer and content creator Slater Young indirectly corrected it — CCLEX was owned by a private company. And suddenly, the Internet is flooded with memes putting Villar in front of fictional infrastructures and making it look like he made them.
The costume: Black shirt + Orange construction safety vest + Hard hat + Fliers of amazing fictional places you can hand out
Unbothered student
Now for something that’s really easy, try going to a Halloween party as this unbothered student on the first day of school. NGL, that’s going to be pretty effortless on your part.
The costume: School uniform + Braided pigtails + Bluegreen backpack + Possibly get a friend to “interview” you with a mic
