For those who are considering independent candidate Grace Poe, here are what people have said about her and her platforms.
8. Performance in the Senate
Poe’s supporters like the independence and fairness she showed in handling sensitive senate hearings. Along with Producer Lily Monteverde, the late Censors Board Member and actress Liezl Martinez vouched for Poe’s work ethic: “She really, really works hard. She’s strict when she needs to be strict. We really felt so bad when you left us but we know that when you have done a lot in MTRCB, ano pa kaya sa Senado?”
7. Calm Demeanor
Amidst the polarizing pool of candidates and intense wave of issues, Poe’s supporters like the way she remains calm and composed. For some, this provides a sense of healing.
6. No Signs of Hostility During Campaign
Poe not throwing (much) shade at the other candidates won over a lot of voters. They appreciate that Poe would rather tackle platform and issues instead of throwing pot shots at other candidates. To them, this demonstrates innate goodness and trustworthiness. Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada credited Poe with these traits as he endorsed her during his proclamation rally last March 28.
Erap voiced out, “Ang aking at marahil magiging kandidato ‘nyo rin bilang pangulo ay isang mabuti at mapapagkatiwalaang tao…” The Manila Mayor also emphasized the positive traits that Senator Grace Poe and the late FPJ share.
5. The Freedom of Information Bill
Poe was able to pass the FOI bill at the Senate level, and her supporters definitely remember that. To them, that showed she’s committed to transparency and accountability.
